Low Self-Discharge 9 Volt NiMh (Nickel Metal Hydride) Rechargeable Batteries
LSD NiMh (Low-Self Discharge Nickel Metal Hydide) rechargeable batteries are the latest generation in NiMH rechargeable battery chemistry.
In standard NiMH rechargeable batteries, the discharge rate is high.
This means that a regular/standard NiMh battery, regardless of size : AA, AAA, C, D or 9 volt, will become depleted of it’s power while sitting unused on the shelf, quite quickly – somewhere in the neighborhood of between 40-60 days.
Low Self-Discharge batteries can maintain their state of charge for up to 2 years when not in use. They are lower in capacity though (mah ratings) than regular discharge cells. With NiMH chemistry being so popular for today’s consumer, it isn’t hard to see how popular Low Self-Discharge Batteries are so much in demand. Schools are a good example of institutions that benefit from low discharge batteries because they close down for the summer months and come back in September to find the batteries still full of power.
Applications where 9 Volt NiMH LSD batteries are the most appreciated are in high-drain situations such as: microphone, radio-controlled toys, and other power hungry equipment, and because of their slow discharge rate, are also good for long-term, low current devices, namely battery operated clocks and remote controls.
Low Discharge 9 Volt NiMH batteries don’t experience “memory effect”. This means that their memory cannot become reduced due to recharging them prior to being fully discharged first. Even if they are not fully drained, they can be charged in a charger without concern the battery will “remember” what level of power the cell had remaining in it at the time of charging, and consider that to be its’ new total capacity.
Our 9 Volt NiMH low discharge cells are offered in singles and in quantities of 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 16, 24 and 48.
