IC detects the voltage level during charging and will therefore cut-off when the batteries are fully charged to protect them from overcharging.

Note:
The led indicator only indicates that the batteries are charging, when the charger is done, there will be an automatic cut-off but the light will still remain on.
You may keep the batteries in this charger for as long as you want, if they require a charge, the charger will automatically top them off.
